Standoff Looms: SAG-AFTRA Threatens Strike Against Video Game Giants
Negotiations between the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the producers' association have hit an impasse, failing to reach a mutual agreement. Consequently, SAG-AFTRA is now gearing up for a strike against video game companies.
To initiate this strike action, a crucial vote among industry workers is on the horizon, scheduled to take place from September 5th to September 25th. Should the vote yield a positive outcome for the strike, actors will refrain from participating in activities like creating animations and recording dialogues for video games.
This development primarily impacts companies that have previously entered into agreements with SAG-AFTRA. Notable entities among them include Activision Productions Inc, Blindlight LLC, Disney Character Voices Inc., Electronic Arts Productions Inc., Epic Games Inc., Formosa Interactive LLC, Insomniac Games Inc., Take-Two Productions Inc., VoiceWorks Productions Inc. and Warner Bros. Games Inc.
As a reminder, SAG-AFTRA first announced its intention to strike on July 13th. Approximately 160,000 members of the union would be affected, unable to partake in film and TV productions, promote their own work, or carry out their profession until their demands are met.
