As reported by Kyodo news agency, by Friday, Japan's Self-Defense Forces had doubled the number of troops involved in rescue operations to 4,600 individuals.

The Pokémon Company announced yesterday that it would support efforts to assist those affected by the disaster.

"We express our deepest condolences to those affected by the January 1, 2024 earthquake on the Noto Peninsula," the statement reads.

"The Pokémon Company has decided to donate 50 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society and provide financial support to organizations to aid the affected and help rebuild the devastated areas.

"Furthermore, through the Pokémon With You Foundation, we will continue our efforts to assist children affected by the disaster, aiming to bring back their smiles. We sincerely pray for the swift recovery and reconstruction of the affected regions."
