Microsoft Studios 343 Industries will continue working on Halo
In an interview with Axios, Matt Booty, the head of Microsoft's game studios, acknowledged that the composition of the team working on Halo Infinite has undergone significant changes and is well-suited to continue the series' development.
Booty expressed confidence in their leadership team but noted that the original team that initiated the project is unlikely to be the same team leading them forward.
After Bonnie Ross, the former studio head, departed from 343 Industries in September 2022, Pierre Hintze, the former head of production, assumed her position.
Booty highlighted Hintze's successful experience in addressing the troubled launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which makes him an ideal leader for achieving the desired goals of Halo's future.
Speaking highly of Hintze's work on the collection, Booty emphasized that the core team responsible for it is now handling the crucial work on Halo.
Booty also confirmed that 343 Industries will continue to work on Halo, and they are open to the possibility of involving other external studios in the project.
Regarding the potential participation of Activision's Call of Duty team in Halo's development (pending Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard), Booty did not rule out the possibility. However, he clarified that the decision would be left to the studios themselves and would not be dictated by Xbox management.
Booty explained that if such collaboration were to occur, it would be initiated by the studios themselves, rather than being imposed from the top.
