Red Dead Redemption Player Encounters Hilarious Bug in Undead Nightmare DLC
A Red Dead Redemption player recently encountered a peculiar bug that caused the protagonist to abruptly spawn several feet above the ground during combat. This glitch occurred while playing the Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption.
Released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption received widespread acclaim and sold millions of copies. The game's success led to various DLCs and a standalone expansion named Undead Nightmare, which introduced a zombie apocalypse to the Wild West-themed game.
In a Reddit post, a player shared a clip showing how they triggered this amusing bug. The video depicts protagonist John Marston shooting a couple of zombies in the face when, at the end of a kill animation, he is suddenly teleported high above Blackwater, eventually falling to his death. During the freefall, the game's physics engine causes Marston to spin in a barrel-like motion before hitting the ground. Interestingly, a similar teleportation bug was also spotted in the sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, a few years ago.

In the comments, some fans made jokes at the player's expense. One user labeled the occurrence a "skill issue," while another quipped, "that's some insane recoil." Another comment compared the barrel-like freefall motion to a "shawarma skewer." Besides the puns, there were also comments praising various aspects of Undead Nightmare, from its graphics to its music. A few users shared their own bug encounters in the action-adventure game.
Thirteen years after its release, Red Dead Redemption returned to mainstream discussion when the game was ported to Nintendo Switch and PS4 last August. While this made the classic Rockstar Games title available on modern consoles, the company faced criticism for once again overlooking PC gamers. Although there has been a recent leak suggesting Red Dead Redemption might come to PC, there's no concrete information yet.
Rockstar Games has not only stayed silent on a possible PC port for Red Dead Redemption but also made no promises about the franchise's future. However, it's worth noting that the publisher is currently focused on Grand Theft Auto 6, set to be the first GTA title in over a decade and one of the most highly anticipated games. Once the developers release the forthcoming GTA sequel in 2025, it's possible they will turn their attention to the next Red Dead game, given the remarkable success of 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2.
