Valve releases fresh patch for CS 2: new sounds and bug fixes
Valve released a small update for CS 2. The developers made some gameplay changes and fixed various bugs in the patch for CS 2 on October 18.
The following changes were introduced:
- The bomb now has a new sound in the last 10 seconds of the timer, adding extra tension to the game.
- A console command "cq_netgraph_problem_show_auto" was added. It allows automatic display of network connection issues in the top right corner of the HUD, helping players track and resolve connection problems.
- Considering tickrate information, alias scripts will now work more accurately and predictably.
- The console command "cl_draw_only_deathnotices" now hides certain match information, which can improve the overall gaming experience.
- The sound decay distance for knives has been reduced, making the gameplay more realistic.
- The "Third Squad Commando" agent (KSK) has received missing voice lines, adding depth to the game.
It's worth noting that with the release of this update, players encountered issues with their binds, leading to a video by caster Mohan "launders" Govindasami, showcasing differences in jump distances in alias scripts as a new feature.
There was also an unusual issue in Counter-Strike 2 related to in-game time. According to Valve, there were 66 seconds in one minute instead of the usual 60. Apparently, the developers identified this error in the shooter's client and corrected it.
CS 2 was released on September 27, 2023, replacing CS:GO in the Steam store. The professional scene has transitioned to the new version of the game, and currently, the IEM Sydney 2023 tournament is underway in Australia, marking the first top-tier championship for this discipline.
