Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Players Receiving Free Battle Passes for Season 6 – Are You Eligible?
Some players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are receiving a free Battle Pass for the latest season, but it appears that Activision is only offering it to users who haven’t logged into the game for a significant amount of time. Season 6 of Modern Warfare 3 launched on September 18, and Activision seems to be trying to make a final impact by luring back inactive players just before the release of Black Ops 6 in October.
Despite being the game’s final season, developer Sledgehammer Games has packed Season 6 with plenty of content. Players jumping back into the game will find a variety of new Shipment variants, additional weapons, and a brand-new 6v6 multiplayer map called Drive Thru. With Halloween approaching, fans can also dive into the Haunting event, which has brought a spooky twist to both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. This event includes eerie cosmetic bundles and jump-scare-filled modes, making this final season one not to miss for fans of the franchise.
In an effort to further entice players, Activision is reportedly sending out free codes for the Season 6 Battle Pass, which can also be used in Warzone. However, these codes appear to be distributed at random, and there’s no clear way for players to request one. Social media has been buzzing with users reporting that they’ve been emailed free Battle Pass codes, seemingly with no rhyme or reason.
Free Season 6 Battle Pass: Random Luck for Some Players
One Reddit user, Eymber93, shared their experience of receiving a free Battle Pass, noting that they hadn’t played during Season 5 and had barely participated in Season 4. Initially suspicious of the email, they redeemed the code through Activision’s website and found the Battle Pass available when they next logged into Modern Warfare 3. Eymber93 speculated that their long absence from the game likely prompted Activision to offer the gift as a way to draw them back.
However, not all players have been as fortunate. While some have been lucky enough to receive a free Battle Pass, others are expressing frustration at being left out. Several players who have also been inactive for extended periods are disappointed they haven’t received an email with a code. One Twitter user even mentioned that they hadn’t played since Season 1 but still didn’t get a free code from Activision.
Activision’s Strategy and What It Could Mean
While it’s not uncommon for game publishers to offer free Battle Passes (with Fortnite and Apex Legends doing so in the past), it’s relatively rare for Call of Duty to hand out codes. With Black Ops 6 just around the corner, Activision is likely hoping to reignite interest in the franchise and encourage players to pre-order the upcoming title.
